Field report of the Norwegian generations and gender survey
Life-course, generation and gender LOGG 2007
In Norway, the Generations and Gender Survey (GGS) is integrated in the Life course, Generations and Gender Study (LOGG), which also includes the second wave of the Norwegian Life course, Ageing and Generation Survey (NorLAG). LOGG was conducted in 2007-2008 in cooperation with Statistics Norway and Norwegian Social Research (NOVA). Britt Slagsvold (NOVA) and Helge Brunborg (Statistics Norway) have been the project managers for NorLAG and GGS respectively. LOGG was financed by the Research Council of Norway (project grant no. 168 373) with additional funding from four Norwegian ministries, NOVA and Statistics Norway.
The first wave of the Norwegian Generations and Gender Survey (GGS-Norway) is integrated in the Life Course Gender and Generation Study (LOGG), which was conducted during 2007-2008. In addition to the GGS, LOGG includes the second wave of the Norwegian Life Course Ageing and Generation Study (NorLAG). Both NorLAG and GGS are designed from a life course perspective. The combination of two studies, including comparative and longitudinal data at multiple levels and from different data sources, poses several challenges to the survey and sampling design. However, it also provides opportunities for innovative analyses and comparisons, nationally as well as internationally.
