Stable growth in construction

The enterprises in the construction industry had a turnover of NOK 482 billion in 2015, according to preliminary figures. This is an increase of 5.7 per cent compared with final figures from 2014.

Enterprises in the construction industry had a total turnover of NOK 482 billion in 2015, representing an increase of 5.7 per cent from the previous year. By comparison, the growth in 2014 and 2013 was at the same level, with an increase of 5.7 and 5.4 per cent respectively. However, there is a greater variation between the different divisions. Within "construction of buildings", the increase was 6.7 per cent in 2015 and 4.4 per cent in 2014, while "civil engineering" and "specialised construction activities" had an increase of 14.3 and 2.8 per cent respectively in 2015 compared to 13.9 and 6.6 per cent in 2014.
There were a total of 56 553 enterprises with their main activity within construction in 2015. This represents an increase of 1 403 enterprises, or 2.5 per cent, from 2014. The employment in the construction industry increased by 1.8 per cent in 2015 and accounted for just under 230 000 persons. Most employees are found in "specialised construction activities" with about 131 500 persons, or 57.2 per cent of all employees in the construction industry. The highest turnover in 2015 can be seen within “construction of buildings”, which had a turnover of NOK 246 billion. This corresponds to 50.9 per cent of the entire turnover in the construction industry.
