Turnover growth in construction

The total turnover in construction for 2016 amounted to NOK 437.3 billion – an increase of NOK 23.5 billion, or 5.7 per cent, compared to 2015, according to the statistics Construction turnover.

Figure 1 shows that the turnover growth in the construction industry has been stable over the last four years, with an annual growth between 5.0 and 6.8 per cent. Since the bottom level in 2010, the annual turnover has increased by NOK 161.7 billion, which represents a growth of 58.7 per cent in the period.
The turnover in the 6th period of 2016 was divided between the three divisions in the construction industry, with NOK 43.0 billion in specialised construction activities, NOK 34.4 billion in construction of buildings and NOK 12.9 billion in civil engineering. The total turnover for the construction industry was NOK 90.3 billion. This represents an increase of 7.9 per cent compared to the 6th period in 2015.

The activity in the construction industry in Rogaland has been characterised by a decline since the second half of 2015. Figure 3 shows how the growth was high in 2014 and then declined and reached a bottom level at the beginning of 2016. The turnover in the 6th period of 2016 shows a slight increase, with a change of 0.9 per cent compared with the same period in 2015.
