Turnover growth in construction industry
Turnover in the construction industry increased by 6.2 per cent in the 4th period - July and August 2003 - compared with the corresponding period in 2002.
The total construction turnover for the 4t h period 2003 was NOK 23.9 billion, an increase of NOK 1.3 billion compared with the same period 2002. Mesta Ltd caused most of the growth in turnover. From 1 January 2003, the state road construction activity is sorted out as a state-owned enterprise called Mesta Ltd. Mesta is established in the building of complete constructions or parts thereof, civil engineering.
Construction turnover for the first eight months of 2003 was NOK 97.7 billion, an increase of 5.0 per cent compared with the year before. The building of complete constructions or parts thereof, civil engineering experienced an increase of 9.6 per cent. The turnover in renting of construction or demolition equipment with operator declined 6.9 per cent during the same period.
County
Mesta Ltd is localized in Nordland, Hordaland and Akershus. In these counties, the turnover for the 4t h period of 2003 went up by 32.0, 14.9 and 13.9 per cent respectively compared with the same period the year before. Turnover construction companies in Oslo and Oppland decreased by 5.0 and 4.3 per cent in this period.
