Continued growth in construction

The turnover in the construction industry was NOK 77.4 billion in the 3rd period of 2016. This corresponds to a growth of 6.7 per cent compared to the same period in 2015.

The growth in turnover in the 3rd period is reflected throughout the construction industry. There was an increase of 6.9 per cent from the 3rd period of 2015 within both “Construction of buildings” and “Specialised construction activities”. These industries had a turnover of NOK 30.6 and 36.2 billion respectively.

The turnover in “Civil engineering” reached NOK 10.7 billion in the 3rd period of 2016. This represents an increase of 5.1 per cent compared with the same period in 2015.

Overall, the industry has had an increase of 3.9 per cent in the first half of 2016, corresponding to a turnover of NOK 199.0 billion.

Four counties saw the turnover among local kind-of-activity units reduced in the first half of 2016 compared with the same period in 2015; Rogaland, Møre and Romsdal, Østfold and Buskerud, with a decline of 10.8, 6.0, 2.6 and 1.0 per cent respectively. The highest growth in the first half can be seen in Vestfold, which increased its turnover in the construction industry by 20.6 per cent.
