Increase in residential buildings
Orders for residential buildings increased by 29 per cent from the 4t h quarter 2002 to the 4t h quarter 2003. The increase includes new buildings and renovation of existing buildings, with a growth of 26 and 34 per cent respectively since the 4t h quarter 2002.
From a stable inflow of orders on residential building projects in the first 3 quarters of 2003, we note an increase for the 4th quarter. The value of company reserves on new residential buildings is 11 per cent higher by the end of the 4th quarter 2003 than at the same time the previous year. The reserves on renovation of residential buildings increased by 20 per cent from the 4t h quarter 2002.
Stability in orders for commercial buildings
Orders for commercial buildings increased by 1 per cent from the 4t h quarter 2002 to the same quarter 2003. The inflow of orders on new commercial buildings increased by 23 per cent during the 4th quarter and is 5 per cent higher by the end of the quarter than at the same time the previous year.
There was a decrease of 9 per cent in new renovation orders in the commercial building sector in the 4th quarter 2003.
Orders for new projects in the civil engineering sector went down during the 4th quarter 2003. The stock of orders decreased by 9 per cent. The value of company reserves for the entire construction industry was stable throughout the 4t h quarter of 2003.
Revised figures
The figures for the stock of orders for the civil engineering works for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd quarter of 2003 are revised. This is due to new information from a respondent.
