Reserves down 10 per cent in construction
The value of order reserves in the construction industry is down 10 per cent by the end of the third quarter of 2008, compared with the same quarter last year, measured in current values. A greater decrease in order reserves is prevented by good access to non-residential building rehabilitation projects, and a moderate decrease of new civil engineering works.
The decrease in new dwelling projects continues, and the contractor reserves of new dwellings fell 13 per cent during the third quarter of 2008. The order reserves for new dwellings is now 39 per cent lower than at the same time last year, measured in current values. The company reserves of dwelling rehabilitation projects are stable at the same level as during the previous three quarters.
Stability in commercial buildings sector
The value of company reserves of new non-residential building projects - mostly new commercial buildings - is still at a high level. At the same time there is very good access to new rehabilitation projects in this sector. The total value of order reserves for rehabilitation and new buildings is 3 per cent higher than at the end of third quarter last year, measured in current values.
Weak decrease in civil engineering works
After reaching a top level in the first quarter this year, there has been a slow decrease in order reserves for civil engineering works, during the second and third quarter. By the end of the third quarter this year, the value of order reserves in civil engineering works is 5 per cent lower than at the end of the same quarter last year, measured in current values.
