Reserves down 21 per cent in construction
The value of order reserves in the construction industry is down 21 per cent at the start of 2009, compared with the same time last year, measured in current values.
The decrease in new dwelling projects continues, and the contractor reserves of new dwellings fell 18 per cent during the 4th quarter of 2008. At the start of 2009, the order reserves for new dwellings are 46 per cent lower than a year ago, measured in current values. The value of residential building renovation reserves is 3 per cent higher at the beginning of 2009 compared with the same time last year.
Decrease in commercial buildings sector
The inflow of new orders for non-residential buildings decreased in the 4th quarter of 2008, and the value of company reserves is 19 per cent lower at the beginning of 2009 compared with the same time last year. The value of non-residential building renovation reserves went down by 5 per cent in the same period.
The total value of order reserves for building construction is 25 per cent lower at the beginning of 2009 compared with the same time the previous year, measured in current values.
Fewer new civil engineering projects
After reaching a top level in the 1st quarter of 2008, there has been a slow decrease in order reserves for civil engineering works. At the start of 2009, the value of order reserves in civil engineering works is 11 per cent lower than at the same time last year.
