Building and construction activities decreased

Production in construction decreased by 1.1 per cent from the 2nd quarter 2002 to the 2nd quarter 2003. The late Easter explains some of the decrease.

Production of new buildings decreased the most, by 2.2 per cent from the 2nd quarter last year to the 2nd quarter this year. Activities in renovation of buildings decreased by 2 per cent.

The production index for civil engineering works rose by 2.9 per cent from the 2nd quarter 2002 to the 2nd quarter 2003.

The figures for the 1st quarter 2003 have been changed as a result of adding figures for Mesta in the base for computation.
