Seasonally-adjusted figures

Building activity decreased by 1.0 per cent from the first to the second quarter this year, and by 5.3 per cent from the same quarter last year. For civil engineering works, production decreased by 0.8 per cent from the first to the second quarter, and by 7.3 per cent compared to the same quarter in 2008.

Unadjusted figures

Easter this year was in the second quarter, while Easter last year was in the first quarter, which complicates direct comparison of the unadjusted figures. In building activity, there was a decrease in production in new buildings from the last quarter of 3.5 per cent and of 6.0 per cent within renovation of buildings. Compared to the same quarter in 2008, there has been a decrease in production of new buildings by 16.9 per cent and a small increase of 2.0 per cent in renovation of buildings.
