Increasing activity in civil engineering works

The production in building and construction industry rose by 2.8 per cent between the 3rd and the 4th quarter of 2016. The increase in activity in civil engineering works made a particular contribution to this growth.

From the 3rd to the 4th quarter of 2016, the activity in civil engineering works rose by 4.9 per cent when adjusted for seasonal changes. In the same period, the production in building industry increased by 2.0 per cent.

Looking at the year as a whole, there has been an increase of 3.5 per cent in the production index of construction in 2016 compared to 2015. While the civil engineering works had an annual fall of 1.8 per cent, the production in the building industry rose by 5.2 per cent.
