24 400 new dwellings

The number of new dwelling starts in Norway came to 24 400 by the end of October 2004 - an increase of 30.8 per cent from the same period the previous year. 5 380 of these new dwellings, or 22 per cent, were started in Oslo.

In October it is recorded started 3 770 new dwellings, an increase of 41.2 per cent compared with the same month in 2003.

So far this year 2,8 million square-meters of utility floor space in dwellings are recorded started, up 19.2 per cent compared with the same period last year.

In October 470 900 square meters of non-residential buildings were started, an increase of 4.7 per cent compared with the same month last year. So far in 2004, 3.1 million square metres of non-residential buildings have been started, 12.9 per cent higher than in the same period last year.
