Fewer new dwellings
Preliminary figures show a strong decline in new buildings in 2009 compared with 2008. The decrease is strongest for industrial buildings, down 26 per cent, while dwellings fell 20 per cent.
A total of 19 497 dwelling starts were registered during 2009. This is 24 per cent fewer dwelling starts compared with the same period in 2008.
Utility floor space started for holiday houses and residential garages went down by 19 per cent compared with the corresponding period last year.
