The decline within non-dwellings is mainly due to a decrease within the industrial, primary and business sector, which in total fell by 29 per cent, or 903 000 m2 of utility floor space. This makes up around 45 per cent of the total decrease of 2 million m2 of utility floor space.

Rogaland on top

Rogaland was the county with most building starts measured in square metres of utility floor space, with 572 000 m2. Second and third were Hordaland and Akershus counties, with 454 000 and 317 000 m2 respectively.

Fewer dwellings

In 2009, building was started on 19 669 dwellings. This is 24 per cent less than the year before.
