Broad increase in building activity
Hitherto in 2010, 11 262 dwellings were started. This is 6.1 per cent more than the same period in the lowest year 2009.
Compared to the top level in 2007, dwelling starts have decreased by 37 per cent. However, building statistics show an increasing trend within both the residential and industrial sector. Registered utility floor space for industrial and public sector purposes increased by 25 per cent compared with the same period in 2009.
Building was started on a total of 4.3 million square metres of utility floor space in the first seven months of 2010. This is an increase of 16 per cent compared with the same period last year.
