Broad increase in building activity
Hitherto in 2010, 12 904 dwellings were started. This is 5.3 per cent more than the same period in the lowest year 2009.
Building statistics show an increasing trend within both the residential and industrial sector. Registered utility floor space for industrial and public sector purposes increased by 22 per cent compared with the same period in 2009.
Building was started on a total of 4.8 million square metres of utility floor space in the first eight months of 2010. This is an increase of 15 per cent compared with the same period last year.
