Value of property strongly up last 5 years

In 2001 the number of sales of real properties increased by 4 500 compared with the previous year. The total value of the transferred properties rose by NOK 8.2 billion. In five years the value of annual sales rose by 90 per cent.

Notified transfers of real property. 1996-2001

The total value of the transferred properties amounted to NOK 129.8 billion in 2001. This is an increase of almost 7 per cent compared with 2000. Compared with 1996, the increase is NOK 61.5 billion.

A total of 156 300 transfers of real property were notified in 2001. This is an increase of 3 per cent compared with the year before. Except for a small decrease in 1998, the number of transfers has gradually increased since 1992.

Most transfers of dwelling properties

Of all the transfers of property, 68 per cent were dwelling properties, 16 per cent were holiday properties and 6 per cent were properties for agricultural, forestry and fishery purposes. In 2001, 106 000 transfers of dwelling properties were notified. This is an increase of 4 per cent compared with the year before. Transfers of built-up dwelling properties increased, while the transfers of dwelling sites declined.

Prices per transfer of dwelling properties higher than ever

The average price per transfer of built-up dwelling properties voluntarily sold, was NOK 1.4 billion in 2001. This is an increase of 9 per cent compared with the year before and new record. The average price per transfer of dwelling properties increased from NOK 775 000 in 1996 to NOK 1.4 billion in 2001.

More expensive holiday properties

In 2001 a number of 6 500 built-up holiday properties were voluntarily sold. The average price per transfer for built-up holiday properties was NOK 574 000. This is an increase of 11 per cent compared to 2000.
