Marked increase for holiday properties

The number of real property transfers was 6 100 higher in the first half of 2004 than in the same period last year. Whereas dwelling property turnover increased by 6 per cent, the turnover of holiday properties rose by as much as 19 per cent.

The total value of the transferred properties was NOK 82.5 billion. This is 29 per cent higher than in the first half of 2003. There has been a marked increase in most counties.

A total of 78 000 transfers of real property were registered during the first six months of the year, up 8 per cent compared with the corresponding period in 2003.

Sales figures reveal an upswing for all types of properties, with holiday properties showing the strongest increase, at 19 per cent. Transfers of dwelling properties went up by 6 per cent.

Price rise for holiday homes

In the second quarter of this year, 1 900 holiday homes were sold on the free market. This is 23 per cent higher than in the second quarter of last year. The average price per transfer was NOK 825 000, representing a 27 per cent increase from the corresponding quarter last year.

Dwellings

A total of 17 400 dwellings were sold on the free market in the second quarter. These transfers had an average price of NOK 1.6 million. This is 7 per cent higher than in the corresponding quarter last year, but 2 per cent lower than in the first quarter of this year.
