Record high for holiday homes

In the second quarter of 2006 the number of property transfers decreased in numbers but increased in value. The price of holiday homes made a record high with the average price above NOK 1 million.

Registered transfers of real property, 1999-2006*. Second quarter

The value of the transferred properties amounted to NOK 53 billion, a 12 per cent increase compared with the second quarter last year. The value increased most in the counties of Vest-Agder and Buskerud with 41 and 37 per cent, respectively.

In total, 42 000 transfers of real property were registered in the second quarter of 2006, a decline of 2 per cent compared with the same quarter last year.

Transfer of most types of property decreased in the second quarter compared with the corresponding quarter in 2005. Transfer of agricultural properties fell by 22 per cent, while business properties rose by 10 per cent

Price jump for holiday homes

The sales of holiday homes amounted to 2 000 in the second quarter. Compared with the same quarter last year an increase of 4 per cent. For such properties the average price was NOK 1 040 000, an increase of 14 per cent compared with the same period last year.

Higher prices per dwelling transfer

In total, 17 500 dwelling properties with building were sold on the free market in the second quarter. The average price for such properties was NOK 1.9 million, an increase of 7 per cent compared with the corresponding quarter last year.
