Solid growth within construction

The enterprises within building and construction had a turnover of NOK 360 billion in 2011. This is an increase of 15 per cent compared to 2010.

The employment increased by 4.1 per cent, to a total of almost 200 000 persons. The number of enterprises rose to more than 50 000 units in 2011; an increase of 2.6 per cent.

Highest growth within construction of buildings

The enterprises within construction of buildings had a total turnover in 2011 of NOK 178 billion; an increase of 20.2 per cent. The industry employed approximately 71 600 persons, which is 5.1 per cent more than in 2010.

Increase within specialised construction activities

The enterprises within specialised construction activities had a total turnover in 2011 of NOK 151 billion. This is an increase of 9.8 per cent compared to 2010. The number of persons employed increased by 4.2 per cent, to 11 709 persons.

NOK 31 billion within civil engineering

Within civil engineering, the turnover increased by 13 per cent to NOK 31.1 billion. The industry employed 12 519 persons; a small decrease compared to 2010.

Preliminary figures for structural business statistics are only published at enterprise level. The data are not as thoroughly revised as they will be when the final figures are published in 18 months.
