Construction turnover reached NOK 408 billion
Enterprises within building and construction had a turnover of NOK 408 billion in 2012; an increase of 13.7 per cent from 2011. Employment increased by 5.2 per cent and reached 210 000 persons. From 2011 to 2012, the number of enterprises increased by 4.2 per cent.

Higher turnover in building of roads and railways
A total of 359 enterprises were registered with construction of roads and railways as their main activity. This includes enterprises within construction of roads, highways, railways, subways, tunnels and bridges. These enterprises had a total turnover of NOK 23.2 billion in 2012; an increase of 8.1 per cent from 2011.
There was also an increase within constriction in general. Turnover increased by 8.3 per cent, from NOK 30.8 billion in 2011 to NOK 33.4 billion in 2012. The same trend was also found in specialised construction activities, i.e. the construction, or preparation for construction, of parts of buildings and civil engineering works, with a turnover of NOK 166.5 billion in 2012. This is an increase of 10.5 per cent from 2011. The number of employees increased by 5.3 per cent.
Largest increase in construction of buildings
The largest increase in turnover was within construction of buildings, with a 17.5 per cent increase from 2011 to NOK 208 billion in 2012. The enterprises employed a total of 21 800 persons, which is an increase of 5.2 per cent from 2011.
