Construction turnover totalled 143 billion

The turnover of local kind-of-activity units in the construction industry, including state- and municipal-owned units, rose by 8.7 per cent to NOK 143.2 billion, from 2000 to 2001.

The local kind-of-activity units employed 134 745 persons in 2001, an increase of 0.7 per cent from 2000. Wage costs rose by 7.4 per cent and amounted to just over NOK 38 billion in 2001. All amounts exclude VAT.

Industrial groups

The turnover of the industrial group: "Building of complete constructions or part thereof; civil engineering", increased by 9.1 per cent to NOK 80.1 billion from 2000 to 2001. The number of employees increased by 0.3 per cent to 66 414 employees and the wage costs rose by 8.1 per cent.

The local kind-of-activity units in the building installation group employed 41 753 persons in 2001, an increase of 0.8 per cent compared with 2000. In this industry the turnover increased by 5.9 per cent, to NOK 40.1 billion, in the same period.
