Fall in manufacturing turnover

Seasonally-adjusted figures showed that the total turnover in Norwegian manufacturing decreased by 1.3 per cent from May to July 2017 compared to the previous three-month period. However, a 0.9 per cent increase was recorded from June to July 2017.
The index value for turnover in manufacturing was 137.2 (2005=100) in the period May to July 2017, compared to 139.0 in the previous three-month period, according to seasonally-adjusted figures.

Three-month change: lower turnover for fish processing
Seasonally-adjusted figures showed that the turnover in Norwegian manufacturing decreased 1.3 per cent from May to July 2017 compared with the previous three-month period. The biggest contributor to the decline was the grouping refined petroleum, chemical and pharmaceutical products industries. Food products also showed a notable decline in this period, mainly due to a turnover reduction in the fish processing sector. Moreover, the following industries contributed most to the decline:
- Machinery and equipment
- Fabricated metal products
- Repair, installation of machinery

Monthly change: growth for building of ships, boats and oil platforms
Total Norwegian manufacturing turnover showed a slight increase of 0.9 per cent from June to July 2017, according to seasonally-adjusted figures.
The biggest contribution to the growth in the total turnover was from the producers of boats, ships and oil platforms, mainly due to several large deliveries in this period. Food products as well as rubber, plastic and mineral products edged up in this period.
Monthly change: slight increase in Norway and fall in the euro area in June
Total turnover for Norwegian manufacturing went up 0.3 per cent from May to June 2017, according to seasonally-adjusted figures. Manufacturing in the euro area showed a decrease of 1.2 per cent. The Nordic countries, Denmark edged down 1.4 per cent and Sweden remained almost unchanged, according to Eurostat.
