Three-month change: growth for building of ships, boats and oil platforms

Seasonally-adjusted figures show that the turnover in Norwegian manufacturing increased by 0.9 per cent from June to August 2019 compared with the previous three-month period. It is the domestic market that accounts for the growth, while lower turnover in the export market slowing the upswing. Building of ships, boats and oil platforms contributed the most to the growth with a strong increase of 19 per cent in the period. This is due to some large ship deliveries in this period. Other industries that also contributed positively were:

  • Computer and electrical equipment
  • Machinery and equipment
  • Repair, installation of machinery

The industry grouping refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceuticals contributed the most to curbing the positive development in manufacturing turnover. A considerable decline in prices on refined petroleum products was the main contributing factor to this decline. For further information on the price trend in the industry, see the Producer Price Index.

On the other hand, the industry grouping refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, together with fabricated metal products contributed negatively to the development in the manufacturing turnover in this period.

Monthly change: decrease in turnover in manufacturing in the euro area in July 2019

Manufacturing turnover in the euro area decreased by 0.5 per cent from June to July 2019, according to seasonally-adjusted figures.
