Three-month change: growth for building of ships, boats and oil platforms
Seasonally-adjusted figures show that the turnover in Norwegian manufacturing increased by 0.7 per cent from the second to the third quarter of 2019. The domestic market accounts for the growth. Building of ships, boats and oil platforms contributed the most to the growth with a strong increase of 25 per cent in the period. This is due to some large ship deliveries in this period. Building of oil platforms also had a significant growth in turnover. Other industries that also contributed positively were:
- Repair, installation of machinery
- Computer and electrical equipment
A decline of 2.4 per cent in food products contributed the most to curbing the positive development in manufacturing turnover.

Monthly change: further increase in manufacturing turnover
Total Norwegian manufacturing turnover increased by 1.2 per cent from August to September 2019, according to seasonally-adjusted figures. Most industries had turnover growth, and the largest contribution to the increase came from the industry grouping building of ships, boats and oil platforms. Here the increase was 29 per cent. The industry grouping refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceuticals and machinery and equipment also contributed to the growth in manufacturing turnover.
On the other hand, food products contributed the most negatively to curbing the positive development in the manufacturing turnover in this period.
Monthly change: increase in turnover in manufacturing in the euro area in August 2019
Manufacturing turnover in the euro area increased by 0.6 per cent from July to August 2019, according to seasonally-adjusted figures. Total turnover in Norwegian manufacturing increased by 1.1 per cent in the same period. In the other Scandinavian countries, Denmark and Sweden, the turnover decreased by 0.9 and 0.6 per cent respectively, according to Eurostat.
