Manufacturing turnover decreases in July

Seasonally-adjusted figures show that the total turnover in Norwegian manufacturing decreased by 3.8 per cent in the period May-July 2020, compared to the previous three-month period. On a monthly basis, from June to July 2020, the manufacturing turnover decreased by 1 per cent.
The index value for turnover in manufacturing was 150.2 (2005=100) in the period May to July 2020 compared to 156.1 in the previous three-month period according to seasonally-adjusted figures.

Three-month change: refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceuticals decreases manufacturing turnover
Seasonally-adjusted figures show that the turnover in Norwegian manufacturing decreased by 3.8 per cent from May to July 2020 compared to the previous three-month period.
The industry grouping refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceutical products contributed the most to the negative development with its decline of 11 per cent in the period. Building of ships and oil platforms also contributed negative with a reduction of 14 per cent in the period.
Monthly change: turnover in manufacturing down in July
Total Norwegian manufacturing turnover decreased by 1 per cent from June to July 2020, according to seasonally-adjusted figures. The domestic market contributed to the decrease while there was an increase in the export market.
Fabricated metal products contributed mostly to the fall with a decrease of 13 per cent. In June the industry group had a turnover increase due to a few large deliveries. Machinery and equipment also contributed negative to the decrease in July.

Monthly change: increase in manufacturing turnover in the euro area in July 2020
Manufacturing turnover in the euro area increased by 12 percent from May to June 2020, according to seasonally-adjusted figures. The turnover in manufacturing in the euro area is still lower than before the Corona-crisis occurred. Total Norwegian manufacturing turnover increased by 2.8 percent in the same period. In the other Scandinavian countries, the turnover in Denmark and Sweden increased by 2.4 and 10 percent respectively, according to Eurostat.
