Manufacturing turnover increases

Seasonally-adjusted figures show that the total turnover in Norwegian manufacturing increased by 1,7 per cent in the period August – October 2020 compared to the previous three-month period. On a monthly basis, from September to October 2020 the manufacturing turnover increased by 1.8 per cent.
The index value for turnover in manufacturing was 152.9 (2005=100) in the period August to October 2020 compared to 150.3 in the previous three-month period according to seasonally-adjusted figures.

Three-month change: metal products increases manufacturing turnover
Seasonally-adjusted figures show that the turnover in Norwegian manufacturing increased by 1.7 per cent in the period August to October compared to the previous three-month period. There was a marginal increase in domestic market turnover, while the export market contributed the most to the overall upswing.
Metal products contributed the most to the positive development with its increase of 8.4 per cent in the period.
Fabricated metal products contributed the most to curbing the increase in manufacturing turnover with a decline of 4.0 per cent. Decreased turnover in repair, installation of machinery also contributed to curbing the positive development in manufacturing turnover.
Monthly change: increased manufacturing turnover in October
Total Norwegian manufacturing turnover increased by 1.8 per cent from September to October 2020, according to seasonally-adjusted figures. The export market contributed to the overall upswing. The domestic market showed a slight decline.
Computers and electrical equipment products contributed the most to the increase from September to October with a increase of 9.4 per cent. Machinery and equipment and Metal products also contributed to this increase.
The industry grouping refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceutical products contributed the most to curbing the increase in manufacturing turnover from September to October 2020 with an decrease of 5.5 per cent. Reduced prices on refined petroleum products in October was a contributing factor to the increased turnover in this industry grouping. Fabricated metal products also contributed to curbing the growth in manufacturing turnover in the period.

Monthly change: increase in manufacturing turnover in the euro area in September 2020
Manufacturing turnover in the euro area increased by 1.1 percent from August to September 2020, according to seasonally-adjusted figures. Manufacturing turnover have increased in the last five months after the marked decline which was registered in March and April after strict infection control measures were implemented in Europe. Total Norwegian manufacturing turnover decreased by 0.9 percent in the same period. In the other Scandinavian countries, the turnover in Denmark and Sweden increased by 2.0 and 0.6 per cent respectively, according to Eurostat.
