Manufacturing turnover increases

Seasonally-adjusted figures show that the total turnover in Norwegian manufacturing increased by 1,8 per cent in the period September – November 2020 compared to the previous three-month period. On a monthly basis, from October to November 2020 the manufacturing turnover increased by 2.4 per cent.
The index value for turnover in manufacturing was 154.6 (2005=100) in the period September to November 2020 compared to 151.9 in the previous three-month period according to seasonally-adjusted figures. Thus, the recovery of manufacturing turnover continues after the sharp fall associated with the corona pandemic in the first half of 2020, the level is still far below the peak at the end of 2019.

Three-month change: metal products increases manufacturing turnover
Seasonally-adjusted figures show that the turnover in Norwegian manufacturing increased by 1.8 per cent in the period September to November compared to the previous three-month period.
Metal products contributed the most to the positive development with its increase of 11 per cent in the period.
Fabricated metal products contributed the most to curbing the increase in manufacturing turnover with a decline of 9.9 per cent.
Monthly change: increased manufacturing turnover in November
Total Norwegian manufacturing turnover increased by 2.4 per cent from October to November 2020, according to seasonally-adjusted figures. The domestic market contributed to the overall upswing while the export market showed a decline.
Fabricated metal products contributed the most to the increase from October to November with an increase of 18 per cent. Repair and installation of machinery and ships, boats and oil platforms also contributed to this increase.
Food products contributed the most to curbing the increase in manufacturing turnover from October to November 2020 with a decrease of 1.1 per cent.

Monthly change: increase in manufacturing turnover in the euro area in October 2020
Manufacturing turnover in the euro area increased by 2.8 percent from September to October 2020, according to seasonally-adjusted figures. Manufacturing turnover has increased over a period of several months after the marked decline which was registered in March and April after strict infection control measures were implemented in Europe. Total Norwegian manufacturing turnover increased by 1.8 percent in the same period. In the other Scandinavian countries, the turnover in Denmark decreased by 0.9 per cent while the turnover in Sweden increased by 2.2 per cent, according to Eurostat.
