Manufacturing turnover still at a high level

Seasonally-adjusted figures show that the total turnover in Norwegian manufacturing increased by 0.4 per cent in the period November 2019 to January 2020 compared with the previous three-month period. A 1.4 per cent increase in manufacturing turnover was recorded from December 2019 to January 2020.
The index value for turnover in manufacturing was 162.7 (2005=100) in the period November 2019 to January 2020. compared to 162.1 in the previous three-month period, according to seasonally-adjusted figures.

Three-month change: refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceuticals contributes to the growth
Seasonally-adjusted figures show that the turnover in Norwegian manufacturing increased by 0.4 per cent in the period November 2019 to January 2020 compared to the previous three month period. The domestic market contributed to the growth.
The largest contribution to the increase in Norwegian manufacturing came from the industry grouping refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceutical products which saw an increase of 3.1 per cent in the period. Increased prices on refined petroleum products was a contributing factor to the increased turnover for the industry grouping refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceutical products.
Other industries that contributed positively were:
- Fabricated metal products
- Machinery and equipment
- Food products

Monthly change: decrease in manufacturing turnover
Total Norwegian manufacturing turnover decreased by 1.4 per cent from December 2019 to January 2010, according to seasonally-adjusted figures.
The industry building of ships and oil platforms contributed the most to the decrease in Norwegian manufacturing turnover, with an decrease of almost 13 per cent in the period. This is due to large deliveries in December 2019. The industry grouping refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceutical products also contributed to the negative development in the manufacturing turnover.
On the other hand, repair, installation of machinery and food products contributed the most to curb the negative development in total manufacturing turnover.
Monthly change: decrease in manufacturing turnover in the euro area in December 2019
Manufacturing turnover in the euro area decreased by 0.8 per cent from November to December 2019, according to seasonally-adjusted figures. Total turnover in Norwegian manufacturing increased by 0.4 per cent in the same period. In the other Scandinavian countries, the turnover in Denmark went up by 1.7 per cent and decreased by 2.2 per cent in Sweden per cent, according to Eurostat.
