Monthly change: steady development in manufacturing output from January to February 2018
According to seasonally-adjusted figures, manufacturing output was almost unchanged from January to February 2018, with a slight increase of 0.2 per cent. Food and beverages together with ships, boats and oil platforms contributed the most to pull up the overall manufacturing output. On the contrary, the industry grouping refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceuticals together with non-ferrous metals and repair and installation of machinery contributed most to dampen the overall manufacturing output in the period.
Twelve-month change: output growth in the Euro area, small decline in Norway in January 2018
According to calendar-adjusted figures, Norwegian manufacturing output saw a small decline of 0.4 per cent from January 2017 to January 2018.
Food products together with computer and electrical equipment contributed the most to this decrease. Estimated figures from Eurostat, the EU’s statistical office, indicate that output in manufacturing in the Euro area increased strongly by 5.2 per cent in the same period.
