Three-month change: growth in food products
Seasonally-adjusted figures showed that the turnover in Norwegian manufacturing increased 1.4 per cent from the second to the third quarter of 2017.
The biggest contributor to the increase was building of ships, boats, and oil platforms, where the growth is related to several large deliveries in July-September period. Food products also edged up, mainly due to a turnover growth in the processing and preserving of fish and fish feeds sector. Moreover, grouping refined petroleum, chemical and pharmaceutical products showed a growth in this period.
On the other hand, these industries recorded a reduction in their turnover and contributed most to curb the positive trend in total turnover:
- Machinery and equipment
- Fabricated metal products
- Repair, installation of machinery
