Three-month change: prepared animal feeds pulled up the food products industry
Seasonally-adjusted figures showed that the turnover in Norwegian manufacturing increased 0.5 per cent from June to August 2017 compared with the previous three-month period.
The biggest contributor to the increase was building of ships, boats, and oil platforms, where the growth is related to several large deliveries in June-August period. Food products also edged up, mainly due to a turnover growth in the prepared animal feeds sector. Moreover, computer and electrical equipment as well as basic chemical products showed a growth.
On the other hand, these industries recorded a reduction in their turnover and contributed most to curb the positive trend in total turnover:
• Machinery and equipment
• Fabricated metal products
• Repair, installation of machinery
• Grouping refined petroleum, chemical and pharmaceutical Products
