Three-month change: refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceuticals slowed down the total turnover
Seasonally-adjusted figures show that the turnover in Norwegian manufacturing increased marginally by 0.1 per cent in the period December 2018 to February 2019 compared with the previous three-month period. Most of the increase stemmed from the export market. On the other side, the domestic market deceased slightly.
While several industries had turnover growth, the industry grouping refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceuticals contributed negatively to the development. The industry grouping decreased by 11.5 per cent in this period. A considerable decline in prices on refined petroleum products together with decreased production were the main reasons behind this decline. For further information on the price trend in the industry, see the Producer Price Index.

Monthly change: reduced turnover in food products
Total Norwegian manufacturing turnover had a decline of 0.9 per cent from January to February 2019, according to seasonally-adjusted figures.
The most negative contribution stemmed from food products and the industry grouping refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
Building of ships, boats and oil platforms, manufacture of basic metals and machinery and equipment contributed the most in curbing the negative development in turnover in manufacturing. Within building of ships, boats and oil platforms, there were some large ship deliveries.
Monthly change: Increase in turnover in manufacturing in the euro area in January 2019
Manufacturing in the euro area increased by 1.3 per cent from December 2018 to January 2019, according to seasonally-adjusted figures. Total turnover in Norwegian manufacturing increased by 1.6 per cent in the same period. In the Nordic countries, the turnover in Denmark went down by 1.9 per cent, while Sweden was up by 7.1 per cent, according to Eurostat.
