Unchanged manufacturing turnover in August

Seasonally-adjusted figures show that the total turnover in Norwegian manufacturing decreased by 0.3 per cent in the period June-August 2020, compared to the previous three-month period. On a monthly basis, from July to August 2020, however, the manufacturing turnover increased by 2.4 per cent.
The index value for turnover in manufacturing was 152.1 (2005=100) in the period June to August 2020 compared to 152.6 in the previous three-month period according to seasonally-adjusted figures.

Three-month change: building of ships and oil platforms decreases manufacturing turnover
Seasonally-adjusted figures show that the turnover in Norwegian manufacturing decreased by 0.3 per cent from June to August 2020 compared to the previous three-month period.
Building of ships and oil platforms contributed the most to the negative development with its decline of 11 per cent in the period.
Food products contributed the most to curbing the decline in manufacturing turnover with a decline of 3.8 per cent. Increased turnover in the industry grouping refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceuticals and fabricated metal products also contributed to curbing the negative development in manufacturing turnover.
Monthly change: turnover in manufacturing up in August
Total Norwegian manufacturing turnover increased by 2.4 per cent from July to August 2020, according to seasonally-adjusted figures. The turnover increased in both the domestic and the export market, but the domestic market contributed the most to the increase in the manufacturing turnover.
Basic metals contributed mostly to the increase with a increase of 13 per cent. Fabricated metal products also contributed positive to the increase in July.

Monthly change: increase in manufacturing turnover in the euro area in July 2020
Manufacturing turnover in the euro area increased by 4.3 percent from June to July 2020, according to seasonally-adjusted figures. Manufacturing turnover have increased in the last three months after the marked decline which was registered in March and April after strict infection control measures were implemented in Europe. Total Norwegian manufacturing turnover decreased by 1.1 percent in the same period. In the other Scandinavian countries, the turnover in Denmark increased by 0.7 per cent and decreased by 1.5 per cent in Sweden, according to Eurostat.
