Low production of power
The production of power was 7.103 GWh in July 2003, which is a decrease of 25.7 per cent from the corresponding month last year. The entire gross consumption was 7.323 GWh. The consumption in power-intensive manufacturing increased by 9.1 per cent, while consumption beyond that decreased by 4.6 per cent.
In all months this year the production of power has been lower than last year. The production so far this year has been 59.5 TWh, which is a decrease of 21.3 compared with last year. The consumption in power-intensive manufacturing was 2.563 GWh in July 2003, which is an increase of 9.1 from last year. The reason for this is the increase in the consumption in production of aluminum and other metals. This sector in power-intensive manufacturing had an increase of 18 per cent in July, while the increase is 6.5 per cent so far this year. There was a net import of power in July. Exports came to 562 GWh and import to 783 GWh. Norway's transmission exchange capacity of power to Denmark was reduced from 1.000 MW to 500 MW in July. The reason for this is a fault in a transformer. According to Statnett the transmission capacity will probably be down until December.
