Power-intensive manufacturing, which uses 25 per cent of the total consumption in Norway, increased the consumption by 8.8 per cent.

Production, consumption and export surplus of electric energy per month. GWh

Production, consumption and export surplus of electric energy in October. 1979-2003. GWh

Gross consumption was 10 513 in October - a decrease of 4.0 per cent from 2002. The consumption outside power-intensive manufacturing reduced their consumption by 7.9 percent compared with October last year. Power-intensive manufacturing, which uses 25 per cent of the consumption in Norway, used 2 764 GWh in October - an increase of 8.8 per cent compared with last year

Moderate production

The production of power was 10 855 GWh in October, which is a decrease of 8.0 per cent compared with last year. Average production has been 10 310 GWh in October for the last ten years. The reservoir level was in the middle of October 72.9 per cent of total capacity compared with 78.6 per cent at the same time last year.

Stable power price

Prices on power have been stable this autumn and at the beginning of the winter. The gross price on power on the Nordic power exchange was NOK 0.289/KWh and NOK 0.297/KWh in October and November. The price has also been below NOK 0.3/KWh so far in December. Future contracts for delivering of power from January to April were sold for NOK 0.33/KWh this week on the Nordic power exchange.
