Increase in consumption of power

Gross consumption of power was in February considerable higher than in the same month last year. The consumption was 11 509 GWh, an increase of 9.7 per cent from last year. The power intensive manufacturing had the largest increase.

The consumption in power intensive manufacturing was 2 527 GWh. This is an increase of 16.2 per cent from last year. The consumption besides power intensive manufacturing increased by 8.7 per cent compared to February in 2003. There was no large difference in temperature between the periods. Norway imported 1 051 GWh and exported 248 GWh. The net imports of 802 GWh constituted 7.0 percent of the total consumption in Norway. The net import had a value of NOK 210 million.

Higher powerproduction

The production of power was 10 706 GWh in February, an increase of 9.0 per cent from last year. The energy contents in the water reservoirs were in the middle of the month 33.5 TWh, while it were 27.5 TWh at the same time last year.
