High imports of power
Norway imported 1 802 GWh in April. The imports were on the same level as in April 2003, which has the highest imports for this month. The consumption in power intensive manufacturing increased by more than 11 per cent, compared with April last year.
Norway imported 1 802 GWh and exported 106 GWh in April. The imports were almost as high as the record from April last year, 1 844 GWh. The consumption in power intensive manufacturing was 2 699 GWh - an increase of 11.2 per cent from the corresponding month last year. The consumption outside power intensive manufacturing increased by 2.1 per cent. Total gross consumption was 9 580 GWh.
Low production of power
The production of power was 7 884 GWh in April - an increase of 5.8 per cent from last year. The production was higher than in the corresponding month in 2003, but the production was well bellow average in April for the last years. Average power production has been 9 250 GWh in the last 10 years.
High prices
The average gross price on the Nordic power exchange Nordpool was NOK 0.239/KWh in April and NOK 0.228/KWh in May. Average gross price has been NOK 0.266/KWh so far in June. On 8 June 2004 was forward contracts for July, August and September were sold for NOK 0.255/KWh, NOK 0.277/KWh and NOK 0.280/KWh.
