High production of electricity
After two years with production of electricity below normal the production of electric energy has been higher so far this year. In April the production of electricity was 10 809 GWh - 36.6 per cent higher than April last year. The production in the period January - April 2005 was 23.1 per cent higher than in the same period last year and almost as high as in the record high year 2000.
In April the net export (export minus import) of electricity from Norway was 597 GWh. So far this year the net exports have been 4 008 GWh while the net imports were 3 961 GWh in the same period last year.
The gross domestic consumption of electricity in April this year amounted to 10 212 GWh whilst the consumption in the period January - April came to 47 218 GWh. The consumption of electricity in the energy-intensive manufacturing industries was 2 871 GWh, and is the highest rlevel ever recorded for April.
