Decline in electricity prices

The average price of electric energy for households was 29 øre/kWh in the first quarter 2004, taxes and grid rent excluded. This is 8.8 per cent lower than in the fourth quarter 2003 and as much as 53.6 per cent lower than in the first quarter 2003 when the prices was record high.

Including taxes and grid rent the price of electricity for households was 77.4 øre/kWh in the first quarter this year. This is 32.7 per cent lower than in the first quarter 2003.

Prices of electric energy for households, taxes and grid rent excluded. 1st quarter 1998-1st quarter 2004. Øre/kWh

The electricity price for households with contracts tied to spot price was 26.2 øre/kWh in the first quarter 2004, while the electricity price for households with contracts with variable price (not tied to spot price) was 30 øre/kWh, taxes and grid rent excluded. Since the quarterly electricity price statistics were established in 1998 the price of electricity has been lower with contracts tied to spot price than contracts with variable price (not tied to spot price). Therefore there are still many electricity consumers that do not use the possibility after the liberalisation for choosing type of contract and electricity supplier.

More stable electricity prices for services and manufacturing

For services the average price of electric energy was 25.5 øre/kWh in the first quarter this year, taxes and grid rent excluded. This is 11 per cent lower than in the fourth quarter last year and 35,4 per cent lower than in the first quarter 2003.
