Lower electricity prices
The price of electricity faced by households was 15.3 per cent lower in the middle of the third quarter of 2009 than twelve months earlier. Services and the manufacturing industry (excl. energy-intensive manufacturing) have also seen a decline in electricity prices in the same period.
The average price of electric energy for households was 32.4 øre per kilowatt hour (kWh), excluding grid rent and taxes, in the middle of the third quarter of 2009. This is 15.3 per cent lower than one year ago.
The average price of electric energy for the service industry was 32.3 øre per kWh in the middle of the third quarter (week 32), excluding taxes and grid rent. This is 20.6 per cent lower than one year ago.
For the manufacturing industry excluding energy-intensive manufacturing and the pulp and paper industry, the average price of electricity was 26.9 øre per kWh. This is 7.4 per cent lower than one year ago. For energy-intensive manufacturing and the pulp and paper industry, the average price of electric energy was 21.2 øre per kWh excluding taxes and grid rent. This is 5.9 per cent higher than one year ago. This is connected with the fact that some of the old low-priced contracts have ended.
The measuring period for the third quarter of 2009 was week 32. The average elspot price for the entire quarter corresponds well with the elspot price in the measuring period.
