Increased consumption of district heating

Last year the consumption of district heating was 2 350 GWh, 5.4 per cent higher than in 2004. The service industry consumed 70.4 per cent of the total, while households and manufacturing consumed 16.8 and 12.7 per cent respectively.

The net production of district heating in 2005 came to 2 562 GWh. Waste contributed to 40.7 per cent of the production, electric boilers 24.7 per cent, oil boilers 4.7 per cent, wood waste 15.1 per cent, heat pumps 6.0 per cent, waste heat 4.7 per cent and gas 4.2 per cent.

Higher investments

Total investments in district heating in 2005 came to NOK 750 million. The price of district heating increased from 42.3 øre/kWh in 2004 to 45.9 øre/kWh in 2005, excluding value added tax. Increased consumption and prices resulted in a 14.4 per cent increase in income from sales to NOK 1.1 billion.
