Index of orders in manufacturing (discontinued)Q2 2003

Statistics Norway has decided to stop the publication of the Index of orders in manufacturing from the first quarter of 2018. One reason for this was that the statistic previously was a part of Eurostat's regulation for short-term statistics, but this requirement was removed from the regulation in 2012. However, indicators for new orders and stock of orders are available in Business tendency survey for manufacturing, mining and quarrying.

Still another weak quarter

Recorded figures indicate that new orders received and total stocks fell in the second quarter of 2003. Both indicators show a negative trend.

New orders received and unfilled orders. Unadjusted. 1995=100.

New orders received continued to fall in the second quarter of 2003 and were considerably lower than the level in the same period in 2002. Ignoring the third quarter of 2002, we must back to the middle of the 1990s to find similar values for the indicator. The industries Transport Equipment and Oil Platforms were the main contributors to this development. Total stocks have not been lower since the first quarter of 2000.
