Small changes in industrial output

The manufacturing output has had a slight increase from April to May this year, according to seasonally adjusted figures. This is caused by an increase in the intermediate and the capital goods output.

The changes in the intermediate goods are related to an increase in the basic metals and basic chemicals output. Non-ferrous metals have had an increase by over 4 per cent and the basic chemicals have had an increase by over 10 per cent. These changes came into effect after a low intermediate goods output in March and April this year. During the last six months the intermediate goods have had a slight increase.

Slight increase in capitals goods output

The capital goods output has increased by 0.7 per cent from April to May this year. This is caused by an increase in output in the fabricated metal products, oil platforms and modules and transport equipment industries. The capital goods output increased by 2.4 per cent from May last year to May this year, according to weekly adjusted figures.

Still low production of consumer goods

The consumer goods output has decreased by 0.7 per cent from April to May. This is related to a drop in the food products. The activity in processing and preserving of fish and fish products is still low. The consumer goods output is almost 2 per cent lower in May this year compared with the same period last year, according to weekly-adjusted figures.
