Slight decrease in manufacturing

According to the seasonally adjusted figures, the manufacturing index for the last three months has decreased by 0.6 per cent compared with the previous three months. This is related to the decreases in the intermediate goods output and the capital goods output.

Intermediate goods output has decreased by 0.6 per cent during the three months period from September to November 2003. This has followed the 1.4 per cent increase both during June-August and during March-Mai, compared with three respective previous months. At the same time, the output for the non-ferrous metals has experienced an increase after a decrease of 1.2 per cent during March-May and a decrease of 0.5 per cent during June-August compared with the previous three months.

Capital goods output

Capital goods output has decreased by 1.8 per cent during the last three months compared with the previous three months, but experienced an increase by 0.1 per cent from October to November, The output from transport equipment industry still decreases, but in a milder level compared to the last three-months period.

Consumer goods output

The consumer goods output in total continues to increase, comparing the last three months with the previous three months. The 1.1 per cent increase during September to November has followed the 1.0 per cent increase during June-August. Both durable and non-durable consumer goods output experienced an increase. Among the non-durable consumer goods food products, beverages and tobacco, output has had a 0.7 percent increase during September-November compared with the period June-August.
