Increase in production of aluminium

The production of non-ferrous metals has increased noticeably during the last three-month period compared with the previous periods this year, according to seasonally adjusted figures. This development is mainly due to the increase in production of aluminium.

The production of Norwegian aluminium has been exceptionally high in this period. The capacity for production within the industry expanded throughout 2004, as well as the demand for this particular product abroad has been very good. However, the overall production within intermediate goods only experienced a minor increase, due to the poor figures within pulp, paper and paper products and basic chemicals.

Capital goods

This industrial grouping experienced a slight increase in the last three-month period, mainly due to the positive growth within fabricated metal products as well as machinery and equipment n.e.c.

Consumer goods

Consumer goods experienced only minor changes in the last three-month period compared with the previous period. Production of food products, beverages and tobacco experienced a slight growth, whereas the production of furniture declined.
