Growth in manufacturing

According to seasonally adjusted figures there was a 1.7 per cent growth within manufacturing from November 2004 to January 2005, compared with the previous three months. Capital goods and intermediate goods had the most significant increase.

The production of intermediate goods saw a 3.0 per cent growth in the same period, due to an increase within the basic chemicals, wood and wood products and pulp, paper and paper products industries.

Capital goods

The output in capital good increased by 3.7 per cent in this three-months period, compared with the previous one. Fabricated metal products, machinery and equipment as well as oil platforms and transport equipment have contributed to this growth.

Consumer goods

Consumer goods saw a 0.7 increase in this three-months period, due to a modest growth for non-durable consumer goods.
