Slight changes in manufacturing
There were only slight changes in manufacturing from June to August this year compared with March to May, according to seasonally adjusted figures. The output in intermediate goods increased and capital goods saw a minor decrease.
The production of intermediate goods rose by 1.9 per cent compared with the previous three-months period. Basic chemicals and non-ferrous metals have then experienced a growth in the output as well as wood and wood products.
Capital goods
The output in capital goods dropped by 0.3 per cent from June to August compared with March to May this year. Transport and electrical and optical equipment experienced a minor drop in the output. Machinery and equipment and oil platforms had an increase in the production.
Consumer goods
Only minor changes within the production of consumer goods output were recorded during the last period. The output in food products saw an increase while publishing, printing and reproduction experienced a decrease in the production.
From July to August 2005
Seasonally adjusted figures from the last period must be evaluated carefully due to the uncertainty, especially during vacation. Figures from July and August must be then evaluated together and the focus must normally be on the three-months period numbers.
