Growth in capital goods output

The output in capital goods had a 2.3 per cent growth from June to August this year compared with the previous three months, according to seasonal adjusted figures.

This was due to oil platforms and fabricated metal products, which have seen a continued growth in this last period. Electrical and optical equipment have also had a significant growth, while machinery and equipment saw a minor decrease in the output.

The output in consumer goods experienced a 1.8 per cent increase from June to August compared with the previous period. Food products have had an increase in the output, while the production of furniture had a drop.

Decrease for intermediate goods

The intermediate goods output had a 0.4 decrease from June to August this year compared with the previous three months. A drop within parts of basic metals and pulp paper and paper products caused this. Basic chemicals and rubber and plastic products had a growth in the production.

The output in manufacturing had 0.2 per cent increase from June to August this year compared with the previous period, mostly due to the changes within the intermediate goods output.

Seasonal adjustments

Aggregated series, as manufacturing, are adjusted directly. The seasonal pattern can then be somewhat different from the main industrial groupings.

Norway and the euro-zone

From July 2005 to July 2006 there was a 2.6 per cent increase in the Norwegian manufacturing output. The industrial production rose by 3.2 per cent in the euro-zone during the same period, according to figures from Euro stat .
