Continuous growth in manufacturing

Norwegian manufacturing experienced a 1.7 per cent increase from November 2006 to January 2007 compared with the previous three-month period, according to seasonally adjusted figures. All main industrial groupings, except energy goods, saw an increase in production.

Capital goods experienced a growth of 2.1 per cent in this last three-month period. This was mainly due to a continuous growth within transport equipment, fabricated metal products and machinery and equipment n.e.c., where as there was only minor changes within manufacturing of oil platforms.

Increase for intermediate and consumer goods

The intermediate goods output increased by 1.5 per cent in the last three-month period, November 2006 to January 2007 compared with the previous period. The production of basic chemicals and non-ferrous metals increased, along with wood and wood products, where as rubber and plastic products experienced a decrease.

The output within consumer goods increased by 2.3 per cent in the period from November 2006 to January 2007 compared to the previous three-month period. Food products, beverages and tobacco show a distinct increase, where as publishing, printing and reproduction had no noticeable change.

Norway and the Euro-zone

According to working-day adjusted figures there was a 6.2 per cent growth in the Norwegian manufacturing output from December 2005 to December 2006. The industrial production in the Euro- zone increased by 4.0 per cent in the same period, according to figures published by Eurostat.
